Natsuki tried to draw a cat with as few lines as she could, and this is what was left.
A soft pink that settles when you hold it.
A cat, abstracted — the curve is an ear if you look for it
Soft pink — flat and solid, matte
200ml — tea, coffee, or a short glass of wine
No handle — meant to be held in the palm
Made in Kasama — thrown by hand, one at a time
Size
Capacity approx. 200 ml
About Natsuki Toda
Natsuki Toda works in Kasama, two hours north of Tokyo. She came to pottery from healthcare, and she throws kyūsu — Japanese teapots — as her main work.
These smaller pieces come out of that. The goblets took their shape from the teapot handles she was making at the time; the cups came from trying to draw a cat with as few lines as possible. She likes cats.
Her colours are flat and solid, one per piece, which is unusual for Kasama.
Handmade, so expect small variation between pieces. Some photos are styling references.
