Natsuki Toda - Small Goblet (Blue)

€25.00
Only 1 available

Natsuki was making teapot handles when this shape turned up.

Small enough for one hand, and it doesn't mind being empty.

  • From a teapot handle — the shape is a by-product

  • One bold colour — flat, solid, no gradient

  • Fits one hand — small on purpose

  • Three uses — a drink, a single flower, or nothing at all

  • Made in Kasama — thrown by hand, one at a time

Size

Small — fits comfortably in one hand

About Natsuki Toda

Natsuki Toda works in Kasama, two hours north of Tokyo. She came to pottery from healthcare, and she throws kyūsu — Japanese teapots — as her main work.

These smaller pieces come out of that. The goblets took their shape from the teapot handles she was making at the time; the cups came from trying to draw a cat with as few lines as possible. She likes cats.

Her colours are flat and solid, one per piece, which is unusual for Kasama.

Handmade, so expect small variation between pieces. Some photos are styling references.
